NEW - single-cell qPCR workshop - 18-20 October 2010

The course focus on experimental setup and data analysis doing RT-qPCR in samples with low nucleic acid amounts and single-cells.
For beginner and advanced qPCR user.
Practical and theoretical parts.
Language: In English.

Day 1:
* Introduction into Methods for single-cell sorting * Single-cell theory and applications * Sampling and cultivation technologies * Basic qPCR theory and applications
Day 2:
* Principles of cDNA synthesis * Pre-amplification * Primer and Probe design * Optimizations and experimental setup using single-cells * Data analysis in single-cell experiments
Day 3:
* Introduction to quantification principles * Absoulte quantification with single-cells * Relative quantification: Gene expression * Calculations using different relative quantification methods * Strategies for normalization of QPCR data
Practical Part:
In the practical part laser microdissection using the Cell-Ector system (MMI) will be presented from tissue material. Interested participants are encouraged to bring their personal sample material.
Furhtermore the AmpliSpeed single-cell RT-PCR system from Advalytix (Beckman Coulter) will be used.
